Even though we were poor, the one thing we did have was a deep connection with Almighty Allah….

As a child I prayed to Allah every night to help me find a way to a better life for me and my family

A local Islamic refugee center took in 3 families from our community
My family was one of the three families
They moved my family into a the suburbs, out of our impoverished inner city 2 bedroom, run down, section 8 apartment
Almost instantly we were transported to a new life, one with opportunity, hope, and for the first time in my life, a chance to actually do something and be somebody
From that day on I had a deeper appreciation of Allah’s goodness and I recognized and seized every opportunity that Allah put in front of me
My belief in Allah Subhanahu Wa ta’ala has been unshakeable ever since

I shot awake…
With a clear vision I knew exactly what I had to do…
It wasn’t going to be easy but it had to be done…

Allah answers the prayers of those who beseech Him….
He relieves those who seek refuge in Him.
He even answers the prayers of the non-unbelievers…
Allah answered Noah (peace be upon him) in his distress, saving him and his followers in the Ark when He drowned the sinful people in the Flood: “Noah did certainly call to Us, and We are the best to answer prayers.” (Quran 37:75)
Allah answered the prayers of Job (peace be upon him): “(Remember) Job, when He cried to his Lord, ‘Truly distress has seized me, but You are the Most Merciful of those who are merciful.’ Then We heard his prayer and removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number, a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers.” (Quran 21:83-84)
Allah answered the prayers of Jonah (peace be upon him) when he cried out from the belly of the whale: “And (remember) Jonah, when he went off in anger and deemed that We would not straiten him. But he cried through the depths of darkness, saying: ‘There is no god but You, Glory to You: I was indeed wrong!’ So We answered him and delivered him from grief, and thus do We deliver the believers.” (Quran 21:87-88)
And He answered me…
